Backyard Woodworking #3: Recycled Redwood Planterbox.

I have this strange 21×21 nook on my deck. So this was the final result of putting a planterbox in the spot.
Reclaimed redwood.

Backyard Woodworking #2: Reclaimed Redwood Table (with planterbox down the middle!)

Saw a very modern table that had a split down the middle, and they had planted Wheat Grass – it looked very cool. This is my first attempt at a table, and I cut and then hacked a curvy planterbox down the center.

My stepson loves succulents, so we figured they could stand drying out a bit between watering, and would not have a large root problem. He put them in and I am very happy with the results.

All reclaimed redwood from Craigslist – some of it is just plain nasty, but if you work at it you can get some real nice boards. I am learning more on how to clean up old wood than actually woodworking right now!

Backyard Woodworking #1: Mahogany Adirondack Chair

This was my second attempt to make a chair.
What made this all unique for me was that I used templates, a router table and mahogany for the first time!
The wood is from reclaimed church pews that I got off of Craigslist for almost nothing.
Best part is that I can make another one with all the templates that were made – so we’ll see about the second one.
The wood is 1 1/2 inch thick and I used Teak Oil.
I am not happy with what I am calling the ‘cloudy ends’ where as I sanded smooth – the end-grain clogged (?) and it looks grey on the end grain. So any advice on how to avoid this in the future would be helpful.
