Greene & Greene style Fireplace

This is the Greene & Greene fireplace I wanted to post a while back but couldn’t find my camera. The fireplace is made of cherry, sycamore, hickory (sun rays), red oak, and walnut (pegs). Working for a few hours each evening after work and on Saturdays, it took me about a month and a half. Finished in shellac. The cherry top came from a 14’ piece of 3/4” x 13” cherry.

The fireplace itself will get some more work later when I add to it (mirror above, and side cabinets, etc.)

OSU Logo Patio Enclosure

This was a remodeling project I just finished up. I had installed a new oak floor in the customer’s living room. The existing fireplace extended out into the patio (see the before picture) and wanted something to cover the eyesore. He is an Ohio State Buckeye fan so I designed an enclosure to match the color scheme and decor in their patio. I covered the enclosure with ceramic tile and used cherry strips in place of grouting. The corner posts are spalted maple. The OSU logo is a spalted maple panel. The ‘O’ is cherry, ‘Ohio State’ is walnut, and the surrounding trim is hickory. The frame is cherry.

Cherry Queen Anne Low Boy, 3/4 scale

Hi Everyone,

I have posted my low boy that I just finished up. I made it 3/4 scale, and made it almost exclusively with handtools. I only used a bandsaw to do the initial outline of the cabriole legs. I wanted to prove to myself I could do it. There are some things next time I will do different such as the straight legs in the back. I didn’t cabrioles in the rear because I ran out of 4×4 stock. The front legs were made from a single post that I actually scrounged from an old palatte. I tried to compy as closely as I could a low boy shown in an Albert Sacks ad in an old Magazine Antiques issue. I haven’t added the finials below the drawers yet.
