I am originally from Tampa Bay area, FL. I have been working with wood in one way or another since I can remember. My Grandfather on my mothers side was a carpenter who taught me a great deal. My father is a self taught boat builder and all around wood worker, as well as an antique tool dealer and collector.
The first tool I ever owned was a Stanley #1 that my father gave me when I was about 5 years old. I remember sleeping with it a couple of times, it meant a lot to me. I worked with my father off and on through college. We mainly did decks and heavier construction type jobs as well as hanging doors, siding, etc. In the past few years I have gotten more interested in finish work and making things look "prettier".
It has been really nice looking into tools again and all those memories flooding back of growing up in antique stores, swap meets, junk stores, garage sales, jockey lots, and flea markets. My dad has even donated to my interest in planes and other hand tools.
Thanks in advance for all of your advise and criticism.

I have recently gotten a new job back in my home state of Florida. Same Company I currently work for just a transfer basically. All of my tools are packed with the exception of my hand saws and a couple hand planes. No shop time for me for a wh...
I had a little time in the shop tonight and was looking for a small project to at least start. I forget how much you can get done when the kids are asleep. I won this on ebay for under $20 a while back. Here is an “almost” before s...
I was looking for a decent set of holdfasts and found the usual cast ones that have been given a bad rap for being brittle. I tried to order a set of the gramercy holdfasts, but they were on back order and the site would not let me even place the...
It has been a while since I had a camera, so I did not think to do any blog entries. Here is my bench crammed in my corner with some work still to do. I am happy with the results so far and learning along the way. I will appreciate to hav...
