I am not new nor am I an experienced woodworker. My background is framing, I began building custom homes in the Phoenix metropolitan area in the late 90's. This gave me the basic knowledge of cutting wood and putting it back together even though it was hem fir and Doug fir. In 2000 I enlisted in the US Army attended basic training at Fort Sill OK and then stationed at Fort Hood Tx until 2005 as a Forward Observer. I went back into home construction for a while, but it was not as satisfying as it once was and I started making things around the home out of scraps that I would get from the construction sites. I made octagon shaped picnic tables, shelves, a toy box, storage bins, and other primitive objects. Now I am back in the Army serving, but I try to keep active in woodworking, lately I have built a dresser and a apothecary cabinet. The improvement is noticeable, but not quite as much as I would like it to be. My interest are hand cut dovetails, hand planes, and building heirloom quality furniture using a hybrid construction method.
