I’m still in the early phases of setting up a functional shop. I need to make a rolling workstation to house my 12” planer and router table. I plan on making a second rolling station to hold my mitre saw and sharpening station. I’ll post more pics as soon as I can.
I’ve posted 2 pics of my first workbench. It’s made of dimentional pine. I based the design on the benches at the Cabinetmaker’s shop in Colonial Williamsburg. Their benches do not include a tail vise, as far as I know. I’d like to add one if I can figure out how to modify this current bench to accept it.

Nice bench. From your Persona, are you a hand tool person?

Yeah, for the most part, I prefer handtools. Especially when it comes to cutting joinery. I’m not against using my power tools when time is limited, though. It’s just that I get a great deal of peace and tranquility out of the time I get to spend using hand tools. It’s my time to escape from the troubles of the world and lose myself in the quiet sounds of hand tools at work. I know, it sounds corny, but there ya have it.

Hello, I believe we’ve met before if you’re who I think you are. I live down the street from youabout 5 houses down from you. Check out my profile and workshop on this site as I check the site every day or so. I’ve added some larger machines since you came buy. Still need a jointer (I think that is what you were asking if I had last time you came by.) I also know a great source for Red Oak in Lexington if you ever want some. My Brother in Law bought 1500 bf of it to get the bulk discount. He’s selling it for $2-$3 BF and will deliver. Woodzone sells it for $2.95 last I saw. Glad to see you found LJ’s.

By the way, don’t get into a hand tool conversation with Wayne unless you are obsessed with them! He is a hand tool fanatic. He’s given me some good advice on block and apron planes. If you want to know about one, he’s probably got it or made it himself. Hey Wayne!

Nice workbench. Do you have any updated pictures?
