Alistair,
I love the color of the sapele, It’s beautiful. Form follows function and it should serve great for a computer table/desk.
I’ll probably do a Grandfather clock in Sapele in the near future. At least I hope to.

Alistair, Nice treatment to join the “pickets” to the top and bottom rail. Sapele is the new mahogany….nice to see it used in a good design. Did you spray or brush the finish?

The finish is brushed with polyurethane oild based varnish about 5 coats with light sanding between coats.I had to join it this way with the pickets as my morticer was out of action and biscyuits were too wide all ended well though thanks for the very kind comments you people are very special god bless.Alistair

A beautiful table, it’ll be a shame to cover it with a computer, but that’s what you made it for.

Beautiful. Sapele is my new favorite wood. I love the finish. I am a fan of such woods having a high gloss finish.

Looks great and no complaints from me! How hard is the sapele to work: I never used it before.

Wow, That’s a mighty fine job you’ve done there Alistair! I don’t see anything in this project that I dislike, except for the fact that you didn’t make it for me.

Very Pretty! My computer bench doesn’t look like that! The Sapele is quite interesting, as it varies in color and grain quite a bit. I’ve used some for my cane shafts and I like how the colors glisten, very similar to Koa. Your son will get many years of use out of this desk and enjoy knowing that you made it for him.
My Dad has made several pieces of sculpture and I have confiscated a few. I love his work and cherish that he has made some just for me and my husband. Your children will do the same. Please show us more of your work, as I am enjoying the “Show and Tell”.
