My Name is Michael Orlando and my addiction to woodworking started 2 years ago with a wood caddie I built to hold some firewood on the deck during the winter. I had never built anything in my life and I could not believe the amount of enjoyment I got from making this simple project. After finishing the wood caddie my wife registered me for a woodworking class at our local BOCES (vocational school) as a Christmas gift. Well, two plus years later I have built a handful of projects and try to learn as much as possible everyday to improve my skills. I have come a long way from my first project, but still have a long way to go and that is why I am a member of this website. Learning from people who know what they are talking about and are willing to share their knowledge with those of us who need the tutelage is what makes Lumberjocks awesome! I hope to be able to one day return the favor. Thank you.

Welcome, These are such a nice bunch of people, I think there are a good number of us here from FL. I think I have counted about 6. Maybe we can all get togather one day. The wife is asking me to build one of thouse benches for our back door at the kitchen, I don’t know why though it goes into my shop. Hummmm!

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

Hi Michael. I just got an e-mail informing me that you made me a buddy on this site. I am flattered! I am also recovering from hitting the floor. I see you are a NYer. Anyone from NY that makes a Red Sox fan a buddy has got to be special! Seriously thanks and I as soon as I learn how I will make you a buddy in turn. I am relatively new to the site.

Mike,
This is turning out to be a great site for me. So far I have purchased a great band saw based on a top-notch review by one of the jocks. I saved a good amount of money by copying that same jocks action of installing casters on the saw versus buying a mobil base. I had been wondering where to buy some “dental picks” for various uses around the shop and saw a posting by another jock who got some at Harbor Freight for $3.99. I went to my local HF and bought some. I may soon be in the market for a dust collector. I imagine I will find some wonderful advice/information here. Sometimes it’s just fun looking at folks’ newly posted projects.
