Soooo I’m getting back into the woodworking game, thought I’d give a wave and say hi again. Went through a bad turn and had to get rid of most of my tools and whatnot and even after I got back on my feet trying to rebuild and reaquire what I’d lost was jus a bit too overwhelming for a while. But things are better now and I’ve been feeling that itch to be creative. Also had someone at work gift me a old tablesaw in return for some favors i’d done for them, wasn’t expecting it, but I guess I had a bit more good karma in the bank then I thought lol :) Needs some work on it, but its a real nice old school craftsman contractor saw, so pretty excited. He said its been sitting in his garage bout 10 years, and looks it, but its still pretty solid, and the motor runs, so just gotta elbow grease off all the rust and tune it up and I actually start DOING stuff again :D

Welcome back to the fold, and good luck on rebuilding the collection. It is a very long and painfully expensive process.

I would encourage everyone to look at some of the auction sites around them for wood working equipment. Some is good some is bad, but it has become a fun hobby of mine in the last 12 months. Many are all online and you don’t have to drive and sit through a boring auction for a whole day.

Jei, I envy you with where you are located compared to me in on the West Coast. There are a lot more cabinet shops that have auctions, within 2 hours of you, than I see in my whole state.

Check out the IRS auction calendar. Mostly it is from industrial cabinet shops-furniture makers, so the equipment is usually 3 phase, but alot of times you see gems.

I have it setup to just show me woodworking and metal working auctions.

For an example, there is an auction in Park Forest on October 19th that has a Laguna 16” bandsaw that is only $150 right now (this will probably go for a lot more, but none the less).

Anyways Good Luck!

Thanks! I’ll check those out, I’m just picking up things as I have a need for them, place near me called ReTool that has a really nice selection and pretty decent deals, gotten a few things from them already for repairs and such around the house, the guy that runs it is pretty cool, given me some good deals.
