Hello RusticJoy,
Let me welcome you to LJs. I hope that you will find this to be a rewarding and exciting part of your woodworking journey.
I, too, appreciate the service and sacrifice that you are giving.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

Dave welcome to the club. I’ve only been in this club for a few months and it is a great community. As a retired Army guy (2001) and having spent four years in Korea my hat’s off to you for attemting woodworking over there 9lack of tool stores and lumberyards). The advantage of working with the scraps that you are finding there, when you return to the states and get your hands on some good wood, life will be a breeze. Here are a couple of links to tools and wood. http://www.rockler.com/ and http://www.woodcraft.com/
There are many other sources but these are two of the most common (I think). Work towards your goal and it should make your transition form the Army much smoother. Keep up the good work and thanks for serving.
