Hi All,
Well the first LumberJock picnic in Michigan was a huge success. Russel showed up and so did DHG. After a tour of my shop we decided to visit another LumberJock who was doing a craft show in the area. Tearen was glad that we dropped in. I made some compasses for evryone to take home. Russel also brought some pens that he had turned. He let each LJ pick one and even my wife got one. Tearen I have yours here waiting for you. We got back from the craft show and grilled brats and chicken. DHG had brought a prototype of a folding table that he had made. Everyone was impressed. I was a little nervous at first, but Russel made it easier as he is very easy to talk to. We took some pictures that I will be posting soon (I need to find my camera cable to downoad the pics). I will post them as soon as I can. We are talking about having another one in the fall. It may be in Russel’s area. Tearen had dropped some stuff off on Friday for everyone to pick through. Everyone liked the veneer.
Thanks to evryone for making this a hit. Looking forward to the next one where more people will hopefully be able to come.
This truely is a very friendly site. I have new friends now.
For those who were not able to attend the event just PM me and we can get together anytime.

Sounds like a great time. It’s a good thing that you did. So often we want to do these things but don’t for lack of a coordinator. Good job.

Meeting new people is always a little awkward, even if you’ve shared time with them in a place like LumberJocks. BUT, it was well worth it. Meeting Rustic, DHG and Tearen was great. The internet is a great place for finding personalities, but it’s the face to face get together that make the personalities into real people. And what I’m finding is that LumberJocks is full of great people.
Thanks to Rustic for putting it all together and thanks to DHG and Tearen for adding to the experience.
Oh yeah, thanks for the really slick stuff I came home with.

And from the wives (non LJers) perspective … We had a GREAT time getting to know one another. Truly enjoyed walking around the craft show while the “guys all talked” and then heading home to a very tasty dinner!! Rustic and his wife are truly gracious hosts … and I for one am honored to call them friends!!
Oh, and I got a lovely birdhouse for my gardens that Rustic made for me. Now just have to find the perfect place for it!!! :-)
Hope to see you again soon!! And if you come down to our area, call and stop by … would love to get together again.
