Sanding Station Evolution

I got a good start on a sanding station today. It’s just so much easier to have a place like this rather than a bunch of hand sanders. This took about 3 hours to make, no plans, just winging it. Nothing fancy, as long as it does the job, I’m happy.

I still have to level the sander in the ‘hole’. I found that the sander itself is not square or level, which really screwed me up when I built this perfectly level table. I’ll have to make some adjustments or make a jig the sander can fit into. I prefer to have about 1/2 inch of play or adjustment up and down on sanders, but it’s really really nice to have a 4 foot surface to runs work through.

Like I said, it’s not pretty. Some of you tool guys won’t approve.

This will be incorporated into a bench when I have time. This whole thing will likely just drop into a premade bench and I’ll do the same with the router so the station can support two tools.

That’s a great job! I love when people make their own shop upgrades like that!

Thanks for posting!

That’s cool Russell, I need more shop space so I can do that.
