I went to see a man named Jim today about some walnut. The wood is cut from his own property, milled and kiln dried. I got about 5 7’x11” and a 1.5” thick 7’ x 12” plus 4 thick slices of walnut with great grain about 4’ x 18” which will make great coffee tables, and a piece of 3’ wood, forget the type with excellent grain a neat check, and countersunk bark in the middle which should make a great table with some glass over it. All for about $180.
I stopped by Home Depot and got that TS R4512. They had one left so I paid for it and will pick it up tomorrow along with the wood.

Sounds like about 70 bf, so about $2.50 a bf. Not too bad. Local retail would have been $400+, so I guess you done good. Keep in mind, his lumber is planed, but not jointed. So it isnt ready for a TS. You may be able to strike a deal to get it jointed. He has the largest jointer I have ever seen. But may make your life easier, if you do not have a jointer. Did you try the HF coupon on the saw? If that location didnt take, I would at minimum call around to otherHD in the metro to find a location/mgr that will. That is about $110 discount

We talked about it, but nothing definite on the joining. I plan to make a 19 foot combination bookshelf and entertainment center out of some walnut he has ready to kiln dry, so some of it may need to be jointed.

I have one piece up on my site now. Check it out. Don’t remember the kind of wood but some other guy never showed up so I got this piece for $20.

HD wouldn’t take the HF coupon, the lady said she got in trouble for doing that a couple weeks ago. I almost asked if they guy’s name was Shane, lol.
