I’m going to be adding a new project soon. I’m trying to find someone here in town that can get me a four foot walnut log and cut it down to make a kitchen island. I will likely buy the boards for the base and frame, but I want to cut the log to about 8 or 10 inches thick and join it for the top. My best friends mother had one of these, it was a massive chunk of wood but it made a great cutting surface.
Of course this means I need a chain saw and lots of planing tools. I think I’ll just use the hand planers on this one. It’ll be a good summer project.

you need to find someone with a woodmizer or other band saw mill.
