60 Day Fall Build Challenge - Sawdust Chronicles

it has been a while since I have been on here, thought that I would put up my enter to the 60 Day Build Challenge back las fall

Mostly Hand Tools….

Well I signed up for this challenge with the thought to challenge myself as well, so I decided to use all (or mostly hand tools) I keep it to a similar design that I have made before ’ A wine bottle carrier ‘

Basically pictures tell the story, hand tools used, finish used, and wood is pine…nothing expensive used, all most basic shops have these few hand tools (most will have better ones)

Hand Cut Dovetails, all wood used (but dividers) were hand planed with some old stanley’s, all pine was cut to size with hand saws….wine bottle dividers and bottoms were the only parts used with power tools due to some time to get finished in time to enter by deadline

Turned out well and donated to a Local Curling Bonspiel for daughters daycare fundraiser…included a few bottles of my favorite winery in Niagara, ON Canada…. Fielding Estates Winery (www.fieldingwines.com)

Thanks for viewing and let me know your thoughts, always learning and feedback just makes us all better….

Was feature on Sawdust Chronicles Pod Cast, check out what the boys had to say about it…

Hey Gang,

I posted a few months back the bottom cabinet and counter top for my new laundry room reno…I have now finished the uppers…

Basic 3/4 ply frame with MDF doors and pine case work…turned out well for my first attempt at cabinets…

Actually funny store to go along with these cabinets…when my brother-in-law first was around the house to check out the finished project he was impressed…then later that night around the fire he asked me “so where did you pick up those cabinets?”

At first I was kind of insulted, due to he didn’t think that I could build them…but then I was thinking and figured that was a huge compliment and I thanked him…

thanks for viewing,
Jay

Basic construction 3/4 ply cabinet, with MDF doors, and a 3/4 ply top…still need to finish the cabinet above to hide the electrical box…

These are a few of my Muskoka Chairs…that were handcrafted in the heart of Muskoka, CDN…The perfect chair to watch the summer go by on your deck or dock…

The ones pictured here are pine finished with a puritan pine stain, and 4 coats of outdoor poly…pictures were taken down at my dock on Penn Lake…and then I had some fun with some of the pictures for some promo and marketing items…

I’ve had the plans for one of these for a while, and finally had the chance to build some for one of my good friends who wanted to bring some of muskoka back to the city with him.

I would say the most popular chairs around here (Muskoka, Ontario Canada) perfect the dock or deck.

This one is made of pine and finished with Puritan Pine Stain, and outdoor Poly.

Made of pine and created originally for my mom, who wanted something different to store and carry her empty bottles to the winemaker instead of the cardboard box the bottles came in…
