64yr old, retired. Married to Sheila since 1970.
Only been turning since I was 13-ish.
Currently running a rather modified Record No. 4, Myford Super 7B, Router Lathe, and a little EW Stringer (made in 1948 like myself).
Enjoy making my own tooling, messing about with OT and model engineering as well as wood, and teaching evening classes in turning.
Member Irish Woodturners Guild, Society of Ornamental Turners, and Dublin Society of Model and Experimental Engineers.
3 married 'kids' and the best 5 grandchildren in the world.
Drive a 14 yr old Jaguar XJ8.
Bad news is that I am a banjo player :-)
Cheers,
R
BTW - names's pronounced "roo-ree" : Rua=Red, Rí=king, so Red King in Gaelic. I am neither :-)

Thanks for the welcome folks. Spent today making up a tool for my daughter-in-law’s dad. I think he will be a happy bunny. Still making some mods to my own version – I’ll post when finished.

Welcome to LJ. My daughter has been living in Dublin now for a year and we came to Dublin to visit this spring. Ireland is such a beautiful country. I am curious to find out from you what types of wood you work with?
Again welcome. I really enjoy sharing my thoughts and ideas here.
