Hi Roz, I was checking over my projects posted and noticed that you left a comment. I just finished supper and don't remember which one it was, but the fact that you're from LA stick in my mind. I have many kinfolks there. Two of my brothers were born there. I went to school there in the first grade, had the same first grade teacher as my dad. Wicksburg is where most all my Alabama kin live. Seems like I remember there was something cool you made and posted. I'll have to go check. Best Regards, Darrell

It looks like your close to Demopolis? I used to do a fair amount of hunting there on the WMA. It's a beautiful area.

BTW, nice shop and projects… you do really good work.

Sounds like you need to plan a tool shopping trip, maybe to Dubai. I bet they would ship the big stuff.

    Hi Roz,
Thanks for checking out my blog entry on my new garrage workshop and your kind words.
Actually I have not visited my garrage-shop for about a coupple of months - sounds strange isn't it?. For your info, the shop is located in my hometown which is about 100 miles from my present home. So I do not have much time to visit and take pictures of the progress.
It is readdy, according to my brother. So my next project is to fill the shop with the machines (hauling them there from my present home) and build shop furniture. I hope I will have time to stay there longer.

    Thank you

Hey Roz this is Birdman, im glad you appreciate the design of my bird box and i had a couple response comments to you. I used the bloodwood as nice accent by glueing it on top of the wood, not inlaying it. I recommend for shops this is a great box for storage at a set place, not to carry around, far to heavy (like 25 lbs) but i enjoy it this way. I think its hard to carry tools around in a wooden box suitcase like are teacher wanted us to attempt. Wood can gain weight easy especially with tools it. I recommend building something like this for a shop to store personal belongings. Those are just a few things i thought about for the box.

    Hi Terry!
Thanks for the welcome and I would extend the same to you. I love this site.
I still don't have heat in my shop, so I'm dying for some 50-60 degree days so I can get back to finishing the inside. I LOVE your workshop and the carport is a great addition.

Thank you all for the great welcome. Sorry to be slow in responding but I didn't discover that this was a blog until just now when I scrolled down and discovered the prompt. Thank you all, this looks like it is going to be fun. I am stoked to have a forum for talking with other people that share my zeal for Wood working. All my friend and neighbors here can talk Alabama Footbal, farming and the finer points of a good hunt but nothing on woodworking. Thanks. Terryl

Welcome to LJs. I am sure that you will find this to be a rewarding experience with the diversified crew that is on board now. I read your shop post and agree that pictures would be nice. It is a luxury to find someone with a dedicated shop. I, like a lot of other members, have converted one of my garages into a shop but that leaves my truck outside all the time. To say the least, I am envious.
