Nice shop. I have the Grizzly spiral head jointer and just love it too. It will allow you to work figured woods that a straight knife jointer would not. I want a 12” spiral head jointer now though because I am hooked on the long bed. I also am thinking spiral head planer too.

Just curious… why are you planning on replacing your bandsaw? There was a forum on here recently regarding vibration in the Ridgid bandsaw. Have you noticed this problem in yours?

Hi Todd: I’d love to have a 12” jointer. Although I have a Powermatic 15” planer/molder, I wish I applied the extra money and went with a 15-20” planer alone with a spiral head. One day!

JP: It does have a vibration to it that I read about after I bought it. I could have returned it, but it’s not too bad and the price was great. It’s a solid machine and it does the job, but I would like to have a larger bandsaw with more power for resawing and larger bed capacity. Probably go with the Grizzly 19” version when I get the $$$.

I don’t blame you. I wish I could afford a larger one. In case your interested, this bandsaw blog shows how one of our fellow jocks was able to stop the vibration on his Ridgid bandsaw.

Great JP - thanks for the link… I’ll have to try that. I would still keep this one even if/when I do get a new one though.

Your workbench is lovely RoyBoy!

Thanks for the info on the Grizzly 8” jointer. A jointer is next on my “to buy” list. It seems like a lot of folks have been very pleased with the grizzlies. Thanks again.

I ordered my workbench and some accessories from Grizzley abotu 5 weeks back… it has been a comedy of errors and it is still not here. Otherwise I would take them more seriously. I ended up with powermatic and delta. I have the same Unisaw you have but LT. (I Love It)

Well, I can say from my experiences with them only of course. I was going to order my tablesaw from them, but they were out of stock and immediately told me, so I purchase the Delta and happy with it of course. But, I have purchased my Jointer, Mortiser and the new Shop Fox dust collector from them along with misc tools (wood floor air nailer, router bits, etc.) and their sales are top notch. Especially larger items – they ship the same day and I get them UPS freight in like 3-4 days from order. I had one bad bit with my mortiser and they shipped me a new one free, no questions. I highly recommend Grizzly myself and see lots of commercial/profession companies using them as well.

Hi. Wow, that’s a nice setup. I noticed you were also from Alabaster and thought I’d say hello. I am rather new to woodworking, only been a serious hobby for about 6 months or so.

I have bought a Grizzly table saw, band saw, and jointer have been pretty happy so far during my learning process.

You have any tips for a neighbor on where to buy wood? I am aware of Woodcraft in Pelham. I have been mostly buying from Hardwoods Inc of Alabama here in Alabaster. Are there any other good areas around here to try?

Hi Jeremy and thanks! Good to see another Alabamian, let alone from Alabaster too.

Woodcraft is good for supplies and I have bought some power tools there (my planer for instance), but I usually buy from Amazon – free shipping, no tax, etc). For woods, Woodcraft is just way to expensive and good for small qtys of boards only. Hardwoods Inc is where I buy most of my wood as well… especially since they moved from Thorsby – its like <10>ve searched and searched! haha

I look forward to seeing your shop and projects too!

Thanks John! I like your chop saw station.

The cars… collecting pollen in the driveway – where else! haha Funny, we spend more time cleaning a sawblade than our vehicles ;)

I just checked out your shop. Looks great. I like that it’s dedicated to be a shop. I like the outfeed tables for the miter saw and that work bench is outstanding. I believe the hieght can be changed? Thanks for the cool pictures. I spent a week in July at the old Fort McClellan doing some chemical training. Loved the weather. NOT.
