This is my first post so I am going to keep it simple and add more later. I have a few more things to do to this project before it’s complete but here’s what I have so far.
This is a full size matress and I designed it so that as he gets older I can build desks / shelving and mount the four posts to the tops thus raising the bed and giving him more space to suite his needs. I attached the footboard railing tonight and will be adding a slide hopefuly this weekend.
My son is nearing 3 years old so I was cautious on the height from the ground but wanted to give him extra floor space in his bedroom to play. Will most likely add rope lighting under the bed later.

You have a great project so far! I bet your son can’t wait till it’s finished.
A 1” dowel setting on a series of 1” dowel spacers around the bottom of the bed would make a great place to hang towels. Then he could play in the fort, house, cabin, or any other building he could think of. Something simple like this is the best toy. Have you ever seen a child that doesn’t love to play with a box, a balloon, a whistle, or a couple of chairs and a sheet?

That is a really neat design, with the full size bed he’ll have it for years.
