I started 13 years ago with a Woodcraft Cradle Plan for my 1st grandchild. Now I look at a picture of something my family might want and create it from scratch or just come up with solutions from thin air. My shop includes pretty much everything except a lathe which I never really cared about having.

Retired from True Value (Corporate) as a Regional Manager, I've beem fortunate to have made many connections in relevant fields and have always had a strong DIY bent - just never in woodworking until recently. Now I'm hooked. Prior to retirement I renovated a couple houses from foundation to roof with all trades in between. Now I keep a P/T job a couple days a week to keep from having to watch soap operas all day and putter in my shop most of the rest of the time.

I've just started 4 matching chairs for our dining room that my wife's been pushing me to do for a few months and am finding them the most challenging pieces I tried to date. I stumbled onto this site while investigating shuffleboard palns for my daughter and her fiance as a housewarming present for the new place they just got.
