Eagle Cane for US Soldiers Wounded Iraq and Afghanistan

I am honored to be part of a group of wood carvers who make canes for American soldiers that have been wounded while serving their country in Iraq or Afghanistan. In general, these soldiers are Purple Heart recipients. They are asked if there is anything special that they would like included on the cane. Usually, it is things like unit patches, Combat Infantry Badges and such. This veteran asked for copies of tattoos that he has on his arm.

SPC Robert Kislow served as a specialist in the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division in Afghanistan. He lost his right leg to a Taliban fighter with a high-powered rifle on 10 JUNE 2005.

Memorial Cross

My mom died in July and her request was to have her ashes spread in Lake Huron, which we did. Since then, her sister (my aunt) asked me to carve something to put on my grandmother’s grave so she could go there and talk to both of them.

The cross is carved from quarter sawn white oak and the rock it is mounted on is from a stream bed in northern Kentucky.
