Well, most of my drying problems were solved today. I went out in the shop this morning and felt everything for dryness. There were two shelves and one side that were not yet dry. I brought the shelves into the house (more constant temp and humidity). It worked. By this afternoon, everything except one shelf was ready to go, and it will be ready tomorrow.

I sanded the first coat this afternoon and used a mixture of 1/3 mineral spirits and 2/3 polyurethane to put on the second coat. The second coat is really nice and smooth. A little dust, but that cannot be helped. As for drying, I applied the second coat between 5:30 and 6:00 this afternoon, and for the most part it is already dry.

So, I think everything is working out just as I had hoped.

Thanks for the input last night everyone.

woo hoo!! :)

Patience was the key, I guess. I’m a little lacking on that when it comes to finishing
