I started woodworking at the urging of my wife. She did not like the long hours I spent on the computer. Now, after close to 8 years of woodworking I am addicted, and my wife... well, let's just say that she wishes I spent more time on the computer. Oh yeah, I think she is also getting tired of hearing me say, "I can build you one of those."
My woodworking so far has mainly been furniture and gifts. I am currently working on getting the shop more organized so that I can actually get something done when I am out there. My favorite style is Shaker and Craftsman.
I would like to get into a few other aspects of woodworking. I am getting set up to get into turning a little more, and I would like to start focusing on smaller projects sometime in the next couple of years. I have almost filled the house with furniture.
I love woodoworking for the relaxation it gives me. Noting like coming home from work, spending some time with the kids and then heading off to the shop. I especially love it when it is raining. I could work all night out there when there is a good rain.

Welcome to LumberJocks. This a great group of knowledgeable and friendly people. Try the shuffle feature if you have not already tried it. It is a great way to see some of the older content on the site. Enjoy.

Well RobH now that you’ve found LumberJocks. The couputer use will build up again.
Of course you also need to keep active with the woodworking.
Welcome to LumberJocks.

Good to have you Rob. It does sound like you have the bug and your wife will be very happy the more projects you build for the home and family. Mine was the same way.

Welcome aboard! Glad to have you. Try to spend more time in the shop than the computer or at least balance the two. LOL. Show us some woodworking!

The boss usually just comes in and stands in my peripheral view until I say something. She knows not to startle me when a machine is running. Other than that, no telephone. Even if there was a telephone, I wouldn’t care if I answered it. That is what the answering machine is for.

Just added you as a buddy when I saw your shopsmith photographed on your latest project…I love watching projects from other SS owners because it gives me an idea of what I, a relative beginner, can do on my SS as I learn…
