Hi all LJ’s,

I finally signed up on LJ with an account. I have been reading people’s posts for several months now. I got the woodworking bug about 6-months ago and have been building a lot (toddler farmhouse bed, platform bed and trundle, workbench, coffee table, and a computer desk). I have a a neighbor that is a cabinet maker and has a shop in his basement/garage. He has been teaching me the basics.

I will post some pictures of the toddler bed (my favorite item so far). I found a site that posts plans for popular furniture items from expensive stores (i.e. pottery barn, restoration hardware). My most recent item (the platform bed w/ trundle) was made without any plans (which I prefer now). I was amazed how simple it is to get started but perfection and honing skills can take a lifetime.

I love reading everyone’s blog posts and hope to add some too.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Welcome aboard. This is really a special place on the web. I hope you enjoy it.

That neighbor sounds like a keeper.

Welcome to LJ, no matter how “green” you are, you will still be able to teach someone somewhere along the way so always take pride in your work(s) and do the best work you can each and every time. If you do that you can’t go wrong! Just wade in and build something. I’ll be looking for your project(s) and hope to see improvements each time you post or at least that you are trying something new.

Welcome and greetings from the bottom end of Africa! The only bad thing about LJ is that it is extremely addictive! Ask me I became a total addict in just a few days. Enjoy and watch your fingers.
