I had removed the shelf boards during a remodel of our upstairs closet and was looking for a small project to re-use these boards. These boards are from the house my wife grew up in. We’re going to be moving and I thought it would be a nice memory to take with us.
After cutting around the knots and laminating, this is what I came up with.

You can never have too many clamps

Lots of nice clamps out there on the market. Sometimes its nice to make your own. The first one is made out of threaded pipe and I have used this for small glue ups. The second one I used for gluing up 15 drawers for my cabinets.

Sorry, no Vanna White or Pat Sajak. It is an approach to drilling radially spaced “spoke” holes on the drill press. Drill remove the dowel, rotate the wheel, insert the dowel and drill again. There are probably more elegant solutions out there. Note the drill bit is a sharpened finish nail. Seemed to wander less than my 3/32” twist drill bit. Thanks for looking. (Added some more pictures of by assembly jig and the final product.)

VW Beetle Model

Hi this is my first attempt at model building. I used to drive a 1973 Beetle and thought it would be fun to make one out of wood. I used walnut, poplar and some brass sheet for the headlights. Lots of curved pieces so I got to run my bandsaw quite I bit. The tires started as circles cut on the bandsaw. If I were to do this again I think it would be more fun to do the tires and axles on the lathe. Not sure when but I think it would be fun to revisit this one with some different color and species of woods.
