« Part 6: OK - This was a mind opener..... Head to your Auto parts store! Part 7 of French Polishing class series no next part

Were going to be learning the Shades of colors that Shellac Comes in.. and ways to “age” repairs or
original work so it looks more “rested and older”...

I had to cook up batches of Orange and Garnet Shellac and prepare some (zero or near zero pored )
wood for Sunday…

I cut off a foot of Beech and Cedar and then resawed them and glued them up into bigger panels..
So were looking at beech that is 12×14 and Cedar that is about 12×10ish.
They are book matched and sanded to 320… all set for school! hoot!

Some Beech
Beech party

Some Cedar
Cedar

So well see how it goes now…

(on a side note I got a nice 2.9 BF 5/4 Piece of Zebra wood and I am going to make my wife a jewelry box for her birthday.. Thinking Mahogany , with a thin band of that beech and the zebra in the top as a panel, and using it for the lid lift.. So it kinda melds into the zebra.. well see how it goes… (But! don’t tell her!)

Ill post it as a project when its done..

Till next week… take care

Rich

It’s so nice to have the oppotunity to learn “French Polishing” ...live in person. I learnt it from books and articles, tried twice but never succeed…!
Good luck !

woodworm any success? I’m noodling making some web vids telecasts of it start to done.. Gods know I am going to finish allot of 1/4 oak sooner then later.. for my “real life” blog.. I plan on finishing the “green room” wall of built ins in it totally. Its a finish that your can control, massage screw ups and looks wonderful.

Well see how how thrilled I am with it in a few months..

Just added to the “DEW list” a murphy bed.. I think my days are numbered…
