Here is a share site http://www.me.com/gallery/#100013
In there is blog junk, the “french” entry shows me goofing around with some black walnut and Brazilian Cherry.

The after or polished looks are unfilled but leveled with 1200 (were talking 30 seconds of sanding) then spritzed with water and rubbed for about 3-4 minutes with 3-O steel wool to get the satin finish (Got a comment about patientce and such.. and I have NO patience I do have and want a perfect finish… each of tehm boards “start” to finish were about 1.5 hours of work and I am just learning.. I made one today in 30 minutes that rocks. .but I cheated… casue on furniture of the scale I want (big built in) Im not gonna sit around allday rubbing it.

If ya read the above blog and ya look hard your going to see what I was yapping about… First the walnut piece
If you look further down you will see that the wood is screwed up with dye/filler (both actually) Was the first piece I ever did and I keep it to remind me not to rush.. but the side closer to you in the photo is ok sorta.. that is pure luck. and Ill explain next.

Next board is Cherry – If you look close you will see that the pores are “WHITE” that is the I need to figure this out part of this filling thing. What I wrote up above is true Its not hard.. but you need to get your arms around the fact that you need to press and fill and then let it rest and then sand it down and check it… If you look at the second picture you will see it with just 2 reps of shellac on it.

Tomorrow night is “GLASS” night Finishing the Finish! If you think these look good ya wait for next pic’s I expect them to rock… So I gonna wake up early and prepare some more Dark Walnut so that Its ready to finish the finish.

Take care
R
