Part 1: Youtube channel announcement

12-28-2015 12:32 PM by Reaperwoodworks | 4 comments »

Hey everyone, Been lurking here for sometime now. I’ve been inspired by Jay Bates, Steve Ramsey and several others on youtube to share some of my own work on Youtube. It was suggested to me to post here and see about maybe growing my subscriber base. I’m having a ton of fun making content. I’ve put up 4 videos in the last 2 weeks and have lots of projects coming. I’m not 100% happy with my camera and have plans on getting a DSLR in the coming weeks to improve that q...

Part 2: Kindle charging station

12-31-2015 04:59 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 2 comments »

Our 4 kids all got their own Kindle’s for Christmas (when Amazon wants to sell them for $49.00 bucks, buy 5 get 1 free, you pounce!). The cords going all over the place instantly annoyed me, so I knew I needed to build something to tame the beasts! So, I did a little work in sketchup and came up with this: So I brought (begged) my 8 year old daughter to come out in the shop and help old dad build it. She mostly stood around and talked a lot, sometimes even about what we were d...

Part 3: Shelves removed, shelves added!

01-03-2016 03:44 PM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

In the ongoing effort to reorganize my shop, I got to rip out some shelves that were taking up too much floor space. I’ll fill the space back up with something else I’m sure, but regaining the floor space feels SO good! Now if I could just get the video editing part down. The first minute or so was supposed to play back at a faster speed :( Here's the video

Part 4: Desk Caddie...where did that come from?

01-06-2016 01:21 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

If you’ve been following along on Youtube, you know I’m in the middle of a HUGE shop reorganization. Every square foot of my shop, all 1100 of them, is being impacted in some way or another. The front half of the shop is now done. Some shelves have been removed, or just plain moved, and some new ones have been built. We had a break from freezing precipitation of one sort or another today, so I decided to get rid of some cut off’s in the fire pit. Once that was roaring goo...

Part 5: Kreg K5 review

01-15-2016 09:05 PM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

Decided to do something a little different with this weeks video post. Have a small shelf project going on in the shop right now which I hope to get up later this week as well. All I need is time, ugh. Stupid full time job gets in the way of woodworking all the dang time! https://youtu.be/19srokdddfE

Part 6: New WiFi Router shelf.

01-23-2016 05:25 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 2 comments »

They say necessity is the mother of all inventions. Like many sayings, thats over stating the obvious. I needed a new shelf for a new router. So out to the shop I went. So looking forward to getting the reorganization done. Getting tired of tripping over tools and no good dust collection. All good things to those that wait I guess… https://youtu.be/a144gRZ4zk0

Part 7: Footboard bookshelf/storage cabinet...thing

01-24-2016 03:28 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

I’m on a local “shabby” site on Facebook and a gal posted a picture of something she was looking to have built. So I tossed my hat in the ring. Bip bop boop, I was commissioned to build her piece. I sold my furniture repair business almost 2 years ago. I took a year off essentially to put an addition on our house. Feels good to get back into the swing of things running my own business. I’m no where close to being able to support my family on it, but building a new name...

Part 8: Cupcake stands

01-31-2016 01:25 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

Seems like right now “rustic” is all the rage for crafty/homey/decoration type stuff. Which really is great, for lots of different reasons. If you are just looking to make a few extra bucks on the side, this is the stuff you want to be building for people. There’s no need for precise measurements, people rarely want any fine sanding done, brushed on finishes are just fine, and then the customer goes gaw gaw over the piece when it’s done. During the building process, th...

Part 9: Lumber Rack

02-09-2016 02:27 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

One of the biggest pieces of the puzzle for my shop reorg project was my new lumber rack. I got it finished last night after work. Going to give me an insane amount of storage space for lumber. I left a small gap on one end for garbage can, air compressor and broom storage on the right. It is oddly addicting getting things dialed in and organized. I can’t wait to get it finished. Off to the final stage, loft tear down and rebuild! Video can be seen HERE

Part 10: Quick update and small project build

02-13-2016 02:17 AM by Reaperwoodworks | 0 comments »

So try as I did, not a lot got done in the shop this week as far as organization goes. I got a little bit of the lumber down off my loft, but still have more to go. Instead, I was busy filling some orders for small decorative pieces. They are selling quick, 44 of them in the last couple weeks, so that part is good. Always good to stuff to coffers so to speak. It’s driving me nuts not getting the loft torn down, once that happens, the new one will go up pretty quickly then I can FINALLY ...
