I don’t know about the rest of my fellow LJ’s but I have been in my workshop for the past 2 hours trying to find inspiration for a simple project as making a square box to hold small bottles and the project is half finished but as I stare at the wood nothing comes to mind and as we all know you can rush a project or wait and I chose to wait because I believe creativity comes to all of us but not all the time and that’s when I call it a day and relax.

I’m familiar with that situation. I have a few “partials” in the shop that are waiting for some insight. I’m convinced the right idea will eventually show up, I just have no idea when.

I have founf that when I try to “make” myself do something, THAT is when I start makeing mistakes.

If it doesn’t come natural, It is not ready to be built.

Take your time, and everything will come out better.

Yet one more reason why I don’t want to work for money.

I also agree and I believe that you made the right choice to wait. If I’m not in the “creative” mood and force myself to try to make something , it never comes out correctly. : ( I recently made a cutting board for a young couple and although they claim that they love it , I was not thrilled with the outcome and I knew that I could have done better if only I had been in “the mood” . Relax , and the ideas will flow in their own sweet time : )

How many times have we rushed or forced things only to see much clearer with the benefit of another new day and the mind filled with new ways of what could have been done?

Have your say...
