My brand new Grizzly Bandsaw (re: toy) was to be delivered on Wednesday by a certain shipping company (not DOWNS but…). Anyway, on Wednesday they left a note on my door that they would try again Thursday. So I took off work for the whole day. By 4PM I was a little concerned; I went on line, traced my shipping number, confirmed that it would be delivered in fact on Thursday. So I waited… Six o’clock; still no saw. Called the 800 number on the back of the note. A very polite, yet automated female voice confirmed my saw would be delivered today (Thursday). She warned that the delivery could be as late as 7PM. So I still had some hope. 6:30PM: the phone rings, Sir, this is the shipping company calling to confirm your delivery for Friday between 3 and 6 PM. After counting to ten I politely but firmly responded how angry I was that I burned a day of vacation so that I would be home on THURSDAY! when their automated system told me they would deliver. So now it’s Friday. Going home early (more vacation time). But the good news… I’m still getting a new “toy.” Sooner or later.
