This carving set was made out of an old wood pin cross arm,(the one in the picture), for a silent auction to benefit United Way at work. The cross arm dates no newer that the early 1970’s and could be as old as the mid 1930’s. One source even stated that they used wood pins around WWII because of steel rationing. The knife is made in the USA by Dexter-Russell, they have been making cutlery in the USA since 1818. I hope you enjoy! Any comments, and suggestions welcome. Thanks for looking!

I made this spoon for a friend that just had a baby. I ordered the wood and spoon from Jantz supply. The wood is a Cherry and Oak laminate. I planned it to be “Crimson and Cream” color because they are both OU fans. The Cream did not turn out so well, I think next time I will try to make my own laminate out of Bloodwood and Maple. Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for looking.

This Knife was ordered from Jantz supply as a kit. The wood is Bocote bought as a 1/2” x 3” x 24” piece from Woodcraft. I sliced 1/8” of with a Zona handsaw, and used 1/8” piece for the pocket knife and used the 3/8” inch piece left over for a set of kitchen knives for the same customer. I finished the wood with three coats of Waterlox finish. I love how the grain in the wood looks in the handle, it was my first pocket knife and I was very sad to give it to the customer. It looked amazing. Thanks for looking!

Rolling Belt/Disk Sander Cart

I made this cart to help move my tools around the shop and outside. I got the idea from a posting here on lumberjocks. The cart is made out of 3/4 inch plywood, the “handles” slide into the cart when not in use and have stops so that they can not be pulled out too far. The handles, some of the shelves, and 2×4 pieces used for the frame are all scrap from around the house. The cart sits as flat as I can get it, and rocks back on the two wheels whey you lift up on the handles. The sander is bolted to the cart. Thanks for looking.
Very sorry that the pictures are sideways, They do not appear that way on my computer, so I don’t know.

“That’s what you get for using the computer when your not used to it.” – my Wife.

I was far too ashamed to post my second, there were just way too many mistakes, so I gave it to my MOM, she was so proud she didn’t even see them. This Cutting board is made out of Maple and Cherry. It was by far my best board yet. I gave it as a gift for Christmas.

The handle is oak. The wood came from a tree in my parents yard that was killed by lightning the night before my sisters wedding. I do not know what made the pattern in the wood it was there when I cut into the lumber. I treated the handles with Waterlox. Thanks for looking.

I was inspired and learned how to make one from all of the many posts on Lumberjocks. This is also my first glue-up project. It is made of Purpleheart and Maple. The first picture is of the cutting board, the second is my youngest “shop-rat”. She was excited for me. I gave my first project to the people that gave me a free table saw. THANKS TO ALL WHO INSPIRED, TOUGHT, AND GAVE ME THE TOOLS TO ACCOMPLISH THIS PROJECT.

This Hammer handle was a piece of red oak saved from the firewood pile. The hammer head was given to me by Dad, he said that it was my grandfathers, as was the spokeshave. I used the spoke shave to whittle the wood down to size and shape. I coated the handle with 4 coats of Minwax Spar Urethane.

I know this project is not anywhere near the talent on LJ’s, but it is significant to me. I broke my thumb the first Monday in July. This is the first thing that I have accomplished since then. It felt SO GOOD to finally accomplish something!!

Hope you enjoy.
