Craftsman Bar clamps

Craftsman Bar clamps

608 days ago by Bob Kollman | 1 comment »

I have been using the craftsman bar clamps for several years now. I have about 16 of the 24” clamps, 4 of the 36” clamps and 4 18” clamps. They all have worked with out fail. Over the years these clamps have been subject to above average abuse, I use them frequently and do not clean them as I should. They are study as I have dropped them a lot…and the best thing to note is there plastic handles…yes plastic, they are over sized and easy to grip and easy to ove...

The off switch works

The off switch works

I sand a lot of wood…on average over 200 BF a month. I own a drum sander and use it a lot, but I find that for the final finish a ROS is the best tool. I have owned and used porter cable sanders for the past 5 years and I like them. The 390 low profile is a cut above the others. This tool has been reviewed on LJ’s twice before, but it has been awhile and this tool deserves another mention just to keep it on your radar. It is variable speed….I don’t use that op...

Older Jigsaw

Older Jigsaw

799 days ago by Bob Kollman | 23 comments »

I bought this jigsaw about 3 months ago. The model is no longer available new, but after visiting 5 stores I was able to find this older model on display. I wanted the 1590evsk, because there have been so many reviews done on this model I knew it would meet my needs. As you see in the picture I bought a couple blades to go with the saw. This guy on e=bay puts up 89 blades a week on e=bay auction and I bought all these blades for 65 bucks. I even got a blade for cutting leather and rubber. ...

G0458 Drum Sander An Exceptional Machine

G0458 Drum Sander An Exceptional Machine

I bought this drum sander about a month ago. In that time I have sanded about 200 board feet of wood. This is the first and only drum sander I have ever used, so some of you more experienced users may beable to help me. The jet 16-32 and 22-44 seem to be the most popular drum sanders. I choose the Grizzly because of it’s differences. 1) It is heavier, which equals rigidity.2) It gave me 4” more of sanding surface compared to the 16-32.3) The drum is stationary. The Jet ...

Nice Palm Router

Nice Palm Router

1530 days ago by Bob Kollman | 8 comments »

About a year and a half ago I bought this router for 37.00 scratch and dent at sears. This router is missing some of the features you’d find on the bosch, but for the majority of my work this particular model meets my needs. Mostly I use it for flush and trim cuts, I do lots of cuts on the band saw using templets, leaving enough materialfor this router to trim the remains. This router gets warm fast, but I have run this router for long periods with out burnout. This router is also grea...

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

Craftsman 12" Sliding Miter

This miter saw has been very good purchase, I made some compromises in order to have a sliding compound miter sooner rather than later. I choose this one because of price $230.00 (I think the regular price is like $330.00), and durability. When I looked at the display model, it was firm and square. The saw has all the power I need, and most of the time I’m using it for cross cuts, and simple 45’s and 22.5’s . Out of the box everything was squared up, I had to make a slight...
