Greetings and salutations fellow Lumberjocks!
Here’s another little carving I finished up just recently. If you haven’t already guessed it is a rocket ship/space ship. Whatever you’d like to call it. It’s made from basswood and I made it for my six year old. He thinks “it’s really cool!” I do plan on finishing it up with some sanding and paint. I would like to use non-toxic materials so I’m looking for some suggestions. Any tips/pointers/suggestions and the like are appreciated. Thanks!

Greetings and salutations fellow Lumberjocks!
It’s been a while since my last post. I was deployed so I had to put this on the back-burner for a short duration. Anyways, I decided to try my hand at whittling. So, for your consideration, I present the ball in a cage. It’s made from basswood which, from what I understand, can be a whittlers best friend. At least for beginners like myself. I also purchased a knife from Flexcut which worked out pretty well. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

I Heart U

I didn’t really have any ideas for my wife this Valentine’s Day. At the last minute (last night) I remembered that I had my little pile of basswood just waiting to be carved. So, I decided to carve her this simple gift. I’m new to whittling/carving and this only my second project. I plan on posting more of my carvings once I get them finished.

Birdcage Stand

I took a cabinetmaking class in High School and we had to make something for the grade. I had a limited budget so I couldn’t make anything too elaborate. My parents needed a place to put the birdcages that we had. So, I made this stand for them. It’s made of pine and most of the project was assembled using a biscuit joiner. As you can see there are two shelves. The top shelf holds both cages one sitting on top and one hangs on the hook mounted beneath. The bottom shelf holds bird seed, treats, cuttle bones, etc. Sorry the picture isn’t any better. It’s the only one I could find.
