I have an opportunity to get a good, high CFM vacuum pump for 100 bucks but I want to make sure it will work well with a vacuum press that I want to make for veneering.. it’s an Orion dry pump AT1100 which according to the owner is well over 10 CFM’s, but it won’t do me a hill of beans if it isn’t a good choice for veneering.. if anyone here at Lumberjocks know’s anything about these types of pumps or good pumps for a veneer press..Please let me know.. I can’t afford to waste money on something that I can’t use..

Any information is greatly appreciated.. Thanks all..

If the pump is in good condition and is a rotary vane type the pump should suit veneering very well. I use a 10 CFM rotary vane pump. 10 CFM pumps are considered at the higher end of veneering pumps. It allows one to remove the air faster. You will want to make sure you have a correct regulator and air fittings for your particular bag. Have fun veneering, John
