« Part 2: Dates and Location Part 3 of Lumberjocks New England - Unite! Sept 2009 series Part 4: Last Call.... All Aboard! »

As you all recall, We have been granted the use of the Lexington Woodworker’s Guild for our LJ Picnic Event. I still would like to present them with something in appreciation of the gesture – but am not sure what – any ideas?

I would also like to thank Rockler for stepping up and sponsoring us with some goodies that will be raffled between the LJ attendees. Thank you Rockler!

Rockler

This really presents the same great customer service, and positive experience I’ve been getting from Rockler.com and the Cambridge, MA store all along. Thanks Again!

Now, We have a bit of a set back in regards to food restrictions, no show stoppers – but it appears we are not able to conduct the “pot luck” we had hoped for, and no proper lunch settings – only snacks and drinks of sorts. I would really have liked to have everyone for lunch time rather than have people scatter around, or come later – but there are several places to eat around Lexington, so we can either group up and go grab something to eat somewhere, or eat before/after/go-grab-a-bite-and-come-back if someone is hungry during the day.

I suggest we can each bring a bag of chips/bagels/popcorn/drink and just have snack-type buffet.

SO!

The Date: Sept 19th 2009, Noon

The Location: Lexington Woodworker's Guild (click on the link for directions and the Guild’s website)

The Plan: wood wood wood! (be nice).

Everyone is welcome to being their current projects/jigs/other for a show’n’tell with everyone else.

As Suggested, If anyone wants to bring stuff to trade/swap – this would be a great opportunity for that.

If anyone is interested in anything that other’s might have – feel free to post it here and ask if anyone might have something that would work for ya’

I will be bringing my laptop and will conduct some one-on-one one-on-several tutorials using Sketchup if anyone is interested, and if so – bring your questions, or models if you have specific requests.

I will also keep a list of LJ’s that showed up (also be used for the raffle) so please sign in when you get there!

Hope to see you all there soon,
Sharon.

Sharon , I would love to learn some basic SketchUp details if you have the time : )
If I brought more of that Honduran Rosewood with me , do you think anyone else would be interested in it ?Most of the stuff is 1.25-1.5” square X 12-18” long.
I’m going to try to get Joe from Downes and Reader to come to the picnic…maybe he can bring us some “samples” of their fine lumber. I got some excellent PurpleHeart from them earlier this year.
Looking forward to seeing you soon , my friend .

Thanks Rockler, I don’t live in Mass. but I frequent the one in So, Portland Maine. I alway find what I want and if I don’t know what I want they usually do. All I have to do is give them a rudimentary, and usually bad description of what I’m trying to accomplish. They seem to be able to read confused minds.

Just a thought as I think the bigger the crowd the better.

If someone had ‘watch’ turned on in the first or second post you did about this, and they missed the third post, then somebody who signed on for the gathering might not have all the info now that you’ve updated.

Suggestion: go back to post 1 and 2 and leave a link that says take a look at the updated post #3.

Waddya think?

Good idea Daniel!

For the record, it was Rockler.com that stepped up this time ;)

Calling all Lumber Jocks on the Left Coast. What say we try to have a get-to-gether?

Sacramento? Bay Area? This Fall? or next Spring?
What about during the woodworkingshow in Sacramento mid November?
We could even let Jim from Oregon come into the great state of Calif. Or Todd from The Big Sky Country.

Sorry I can’t make it. I’ll be in PA with my daughter, watching big time softball. If you’re keeping a list for future attendees please add my name to the list.

langski93 – sorry to hear that, but we’ll have more of those, so no worries. keep an eye open , as I’ll personally add a post whenever something comes up – and other’s may as well.

cheller – hope your strong tentative is becoming less tentative and more definite yes – bring camera, I’m sure many will. have you had a chance to PM with Barry regarding picking him up?
