Creative Software Engineer with a passion for making things.
I have many woodworkers in my family, but never really got involved with it personally until my father in law which used to be a carpenter came to visit and built my wife and I a custom bed and some cabinets. I started helping him out, and finally got hooked on it myself, and have been taking upon myself to make anything we need, or anything I can - myself. Not only does it allow me to create, but it also provide us with custom builds, which you can't really find anywhere else.
With a baby daughter joining our family, woodworking projects are lining up in the back burner and are awaiting to come out to life....
Stay tuned as I hope to share these projects as they are brought to life.
oh yeah, and Lev in hebrew is a Heart - hence PurpLev.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.
God Bless

Hi Lev!
I joined this site today based on reading your stuff about the R4511. I just got one a few weeks ago, and have put it together, but haven’t even gotten a chance to turn it on yet, as we just had our first baby, a girl – Isabella – on 4/3. So, saw had to take a lower place in my attention rankings…
I should be getting back to working on my “about to be shop” section of my garage, and it’s been cool reading your posts as I think we’re in fairly similar stages/situations…
Anyway, just wanted to say hi, and introduce myself…

Lev,
Thanks for all your great info! You are a true asset to this site and those you choose to advise. I appreciated the video and got some good intel. I myself have 2 little ones 1 and 2, so getting the information without having to hunt it down is a great time saver and allows for us to do what we love…turning big rough boards into small pretty ones.

Good to hear you have a new baby daughter on the way, or is she already here? I recently had my first little one. I love woodworking but also have a bunch of friends that do software engineering.

I am now 73 years of age, and it is quite a number of years since I practiced Toolmaking. Amongst other tasks, I used to, in the `old` days, engrave, tediously, by hand & hand held `HSS graving tools,` (not hi-speed dentist type, air-driven type cutting tools) to make the tool steel dies used in the manufacture of Minted Currency Coins, for the Australian Mint & Internationally. My hands are now somewhat `shaky` and, I no longer possess my `high/variable` Lietz`Magnifiying spectacles that was used in the dim dark past for this type of work. So, after all that, I simply `wrote` the letters by hand, using a `water-proof` 0.1 mm pen, as used for writing on copy CD`s & DVD`s.
Svaabeck.
