Hello all LJ members,
I’ve just bought figure 8’s at Woodcraft and on the first attachment…the screw broke off !!
I had installed another pack of 8…and needed 4 more.
However I did not save the package to buy the same ones.
A close friend of mine bought me 4 packages from Woodcraft…and frankly they are crap !!
The thickness is skimpy and the countersink is almost none.
Can come one recommend a heavy duty fig. 8. ?
The thickness is .110
Now I have to carefully chisel out the broken screw, square off the cavity and glue in an oak plug and replace it with another premium figure 8.
Thanks to this community for its support of all woodworkers !!

I use figure 8’s all the time on my furniture tops….I buy mine from Woodworkers Supply…..They are heavy duty, and about 1/8th” thick….The countersinks are good on both sides, and plenty deep for a screw…..I usually buy a 1,000 bag, with screws…..I think they sell smaller packages if you don’t need that many….Just go to Woodworkers I buy quite a bit of my supplies from them…..Give ‘em a try….!!
