What Power Tools You Absolutely Need If You Are Going To Refurbish You Home

DIY projects are awesome ways to save money and release your creative energy to customize your home. Moreover, refurbishing your house is a great way to offer a new life to those items which are a generation heritage, like your grandmother's vanity table or a sturdy bed given by your uncle.
In order to make these projects happen, you need to gather the next tools which will help you revive any old item and turn it into a modern piece of art.

High quality sandpaper
Each furniture refurbish starts with sandpaper and you need to have high quality sandpaper, to be able to get rid of the old wood and paint. This will ensure a good grip for the new paint, so you have to pick a good sandpaper or sander. For big projects, sanding the old layer manually will lead to hand cramps and pains, so you should consider an electric sander.

Wood putty
In a wood-related project you also need a wood putty which is designed to fill in the cracks and imperfections in the wood. Some projects use lots of putty or filler, other need couple of spoons, so stock accordingly.

Primer
Before you can put on the paint or the stainer, you need to apply a primer on your furniture. It helps enhance the paint color, so you have to choose the right shade in order to obtain the finish you want. For dark pain, use a grey primer and for light paint use a white primer. If the furniture is in good state, you only need a single layer of primer, otherwise you need couple of layers.

Wipe on stains
For DIY projects a wipe on stainer provides the perfect mix between quality and usability, so opt for one when you work on refurbishing your home. A gel topcoat is another handy tool you need in your projects, so make sure you have couple of those as well. Compared to the traditional stains, the wipe on saves the headache of a wet surface which gathers all the dust in the area before it manages to dry off.

Varnish
A layer of varnish can add lifespan to your projects, as it seals the paint and helps protect your refurbishing projects from outside aggressive factors. It also promotes a vibrant color which lasts longer, even on hard-duty items, like the coffee table.

Paste wax
Paste wax provides the finishing touch to your projects, so after you've went through the hassle of crafting a new item out of an old one, spend some more time on it and rub with some paste wax. The best types contain candelilla, beeswax and paraffin for a good wood protection. No more worries next time you spill the coffee!
Apart from these tools, don't forget to gather around you some pencils, stirring sticks, ammonia for cleaning the brushes, cloths, jars and clean water. Couple of spoons and plastic cups which can resist to common solvents are also needed for a refurbishing project, so plan ahead to make sure you end up with a successful item.
