Just getting in to woodworking but I do know a lot about sailing. My wife and I circumnavigated the Caribbean for 21 months on a 38 foot sailboat after we got married.
As of December 2006 my wife and I had our first son, Robert. He is keeping me busy and is taking up my woodworking time, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
In April 2007 we are moving in to a new home that has an unfinished basement. I am _really_ looking forward to getting my first shop at that time!
Cheers,
~Peter

Welcome a board Peter. Thats a woodworking term not a nautical term.

Welcome to LumberJocks

And with a new baby ( as opposed to an old baby) that gives you lots of excuse to build a crib, changing table maybe a high chair.

I’m new myself, but welcome to what I Believe is a great forum!

PS…I grew up in Charlotte,...attended South Meck (class of 80), got married there then moved away. I still have family around the area.

PSS…...ever have a good meal at 411 West…(Chapel Hill) ?

Billl,

I have done the opposite route. I grew up in New York (in the burbs north of the city), came down to Chapel Hill for grad school in ‘98 (LOVE 411 West) and moved over to Charlotte at the end of 2000.

I never thought that I would be putting down roots here, but I met my lovely wife and her career is a little less flexible than mine… No complaints about the weather expect that I might spend more time in the shop if it rained more or was colder. Talk about a nice problem to have.

Charlotte is a great town.

That is a good story Peter. I have never been to Charlotte, but always thought it would be a nice place to live. More food for thought…

Hey Peter, If you ever need any hard wood lumber, give me a call. I live just south of you in Waxhaw NC. I have red oak and some walnut and if you have any of your own logs I can mill them for you too. Hope to hear from you soon.
