I’ve made several of these train sets, this is the first with a box to garage them in. They are popular with grandkids and young birthdays. This one is made from all Alder (except box top and bottom which are thin plywood) and finished natural with wipe on poly.

Alder Lumber from the mill

This is now dry for a year and about ready to use, last August I took a few smaller Red Alder trees from my property to a guy with a sawmill, for about $140 he cut it up. Will be used for a variety of projects as it is a nice looking wood when finished. Kind of in between hardwood and softwood.

I recently made this oriental style garden bench, all from Cedar with exterior glue and wood screws, one thing leads to another so I made a brick base and planted a Wisteria Vine on it also. Fun project from a pattern that I found on the internet

This is a workshop I recently completed, it is 20×40 feet and has a wall in the middle, half for me, half for my wifes craft workshop. Complete with heat, air conditioning, and plumbing. My only regret is giving her half of it.
