« Part 3: Better Stop Thinking and Start Doing Part 4 of Thorsen Side Table Challenge series Part 5: Close! »

Went to the office for a couple of hours this morning and decided that I could take today as my day off. Went straight to the shop and got started on my entry in the challenge.

10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with short breaks for lunch, school pick-up and supper.

Paul: The clamps distract from the final product. Maybe you should have worked until 10:00 pm to get them off. LOL

Great Job.

Karson he said he had it done..He didn’t say it had dried yet…. However the orange and red handles contrast nicely with the natural wood color.

Paul, you got a lot done! Great job.

Hi Paul;
—-your table is full-of-wonder, just as you have assembled these pieces of wood as a great show of tabled ‘wood art’!

Thank you.

Progress! Not done.

I’ve been interested in learning more about design. After much searching, I found and read a recommended out-of-print Taunton Press book on furntiure design but I never got off the waiting list for the design class I wanted to take with Michael Fortune.

When I get the clamps out of the way and do finish it, I want to continue the blog about a couple of subtle design changes I made. I had a design goal in mind for this Thorsen Table and I would like to receive feedback on whether what I did “worked” and perhaps what else I could have done.

Definitely progress. Must be nice to take off of work to go play in the shop. ;^) Can’t wait to see your design changes.

Paul, this is looking fantastic. Do I get it right? You did all this in eleven hours?

Don -

Yep and I’m tired today! I used Titebond glue and except for the picture of how I left it overnight last night, I risked working with glue-ups after just an hour of set-up ( I wouldn’t recommend).
