I was told that the pens and boxes that went to china were taken as a highly respective gift. I also fond out that one set when to a VP of a multi billion dollar company. The next set went to a multi million dollar company. I was told that they will be setting on there desk. I wish I could show pic but it has not been cleared

Well pens and boxes are of to china (Singapore) 3 sets of each. My boss is gifting 2 sets and the third is a spare. I was told it is all way good to have a spare when turning Ebony.
Any way I hope it will be received well. I put a lot of time in them and have a I turned more pens the to get good matches. now that that order is filed I have a new one a set to go to a contract signing in Oklahoma on Monday i get three days. They want new box design and same pens that went to china.

labor of love

taken this mooring at 6:00. I have to put boxes together and sides and lid get a final coat. to day pens kits and blanks come and i will get started on the pens. I will have to put last co on boxes to night before i call it for the day.

oh PS. if you have small parts and you are using your dust collector to titty up. be aware of the location of said parts. dust collectors are hungry machines.

Trip to China

Hey guy exiting news for me. I was told by the boss to make two sets of pens and boxes for a business trip to china. They will be given as gifts. I was given until the 15th. They wanted two of the boxes
and pen set i just turned for another job in Oklahoma (no pic yet) but it is penn state long wood satin set with red Mallee buro and ebony. they are going to give me time of work to do this task as it is very high priority.

carts #1: Race Day

Race day was a blast. The boys won on the first cart and spouses of the scout won the adult race also on the first cart. There was a 3 second time between the two carts. the second cart had different wheels (a little spongy) next year we will have better tires.

that was the good news. the bad news the last run down the hill at the bottom the cart hit the curb and the front end needed more tlc then I could give it there.

I was tasked to build two cub carts for the boy scouts. They gave me two sets of wheel chair casters and plans for a kids cub cart and one for a adult cub cart. it is a race kind of like pine wood cars. it will be held this Saturday. I have the kids one done and it as been tested by the scouts and meets approval. O and it fast and a bit showy.

The cart is made out of 3 8’ 2×4 fir milled to 1 1/2×3 6\16, maple peaces and mdf covered with laminate

2.0 is on the way.

1/4 pilot holes in axels for wheel lags (notice red oak inserts)

laminated 3\4×3 6\16×32 1/2 red oak on axles (this is all a upgrade) the frame will also have lamination.

in the shop Saturday night getting some pen banks read. Dang it if I did not glue my fingers together (two fingers on both hands) It was hot out and I picked up the med.. CA glue (faster drying). I knew I got glue on my fingers but I was working with a nice blank of Brazilian rosewood. I saved the blank but found I had no ACETONE.. So yes I had to run to lows and get some.

Turners it happens and now I know to keep the ACETONE handy. (in case I need a good soaking)

I think i have forgot to tell you all I am going to have no. 2 in OCT… All I know is it’s healthy
So I have been doing my best to judge when to go out in shop and when not to…... mostly not to …..

But I have been work on a tool chest when I can…slow go.

New additions:

(1) Rikon 14’ BS have not got to use it much but nice.

Also a surprise tool

(2) Delta deluxe bench top mortiser. Why a surprise, long story short.. I have be talking to a electrition about wiring of my shop and got into talking wood working. Well I found out he as the itch also.
He told me he bought this pallet of tools from a store. For some reason they did not get send back tool factory. So what he got is tools people brought back under warranty. He said he had gotten 2 motise machines and asked would i like one. I did not want to be rude so I accepted. Now I did have to buy 25$ worth of parts to bring back into new status but.. Well at same time he did tell me he is getting married in a week.

So in spirit of thing I though I would fix up a old Stanley #4 plan (lap bottom, clean, shellac, new hocks iron and chip breaker) also it would be nice if it was in a box.

I have got plane done and I am working on box.

Will post pic as finished project as time in shop is skinny at best.
