« Part 2: Dye and Assembly Part 3 of Morris Chair series Part 4: Upholstery - Seat »

Its about time I throw up a few more pictures. I’ve got my chair completely built from a chair standpoint. The upholstery is yet to come.

I finished dying the arms and touched up the dye.

The tenon caps got glued in.

I made tenons on the stretchers (of the chair back) and mortised the uprights.

They were dyed and assembled next.

I pegged the joints on the chair back and on the rest of the chair.

My method for making pegs involves a drill, some sand paper, and a small cutting “miter box”

Then on to fastening the back to the chair.

I turned some hickory dowels on my (really crummy) lathe.

I drilled the adjustable holes in the chair arms for the back rest pegs. I don’t have a drill press, so my nerve racking process involved leveling/plumbing the chair, then using the bubble on the back of my drill to try to drill an accurate hole with a forstner bit. It payed off, and the holes are pretty true.

Finally, here’s a few shots of it assembled. I had to throw on a couple pieces of foam to test it out….

I hope that you all have a blessed Holy week and can be truly thankful for the sacrifice Jesus made for us all…

Blessed Easter to as well. Great job! Are you going to use leather or fabric?

Man that’s a good look’n Morris char—I like the wood combo you used!

Looking forward to seeing this posted as a project!
