Dial Guage Holder

A few months ago I bought a dial gauge ‘cos I knew it was time to replace my planer knives. I decided not to but a holder for it, but rather make one.

Take one parquet floor block (see previous post) and set a pair of magnets in the bottom.

Hack up some aluminium off-cuts and assemble the whole lot with mismatched bolts.

Don’t laugh – it works.

I am chuckling a bit but “great job”. I love it when some one can make something rather than buy it. I too try to use up all those extra parts from previous projects. Makes me feel like I am being frugal (not cheap!, frugal).

Tell me, what do you plan to measure that requires the six inch or so elevation made possible by the vertical beam.

Dusty, I have no clue about what else I’m going to measure with this contraption, but I thought it’s better to have too much reach than too little.

Besides which, the off-cut I used for the upright was that size in the bin and I decided (frugally) to not waste time cutting it shorter. You see, I also understand and practice frugality. :-)
