I have been married 16 years and have 3 daughters and one Chinese student that is like our daughter since she has been with us 5 years now.
I have worked as a Diesel mechanic, Welder, and currently a System Admin. I have been a causual wood worker all my life mainly due to not having the money for tools and proper work space.
July 2011 we bought our first home and the small garage is now my shop. Previously I did work in the driveway as weather permitted and sometimes when it did not.
Since getting my “new shop” my quality of wood working have improved a lot. I hope it continues to improve.

The belt guard took some figuring for me. Mine ended up taller than the plans due to I allowed the drive shaft to stick out further to allow for a different pulley in the future. The plans called for it to be 1.5 inches tall and I made mine 2.5 in...
So I decided to paint the base winter grey. The pivot arm and related parts used polyurethane. I like how the base turned out since it was old growth pine. I cut a simple 45 all around it. The pivot arm is some kind of foreign oak ty...
Building the ShopNotes Belt Sander turned me into a Time Thief. I would steal time to work out in the shop. Sometimes it was as little as 5 minutes or just before going to church. The most time was generally on a Saturday and I would get a who...
I was going to post this sooner but I strained my back on Friday working on this. I mounted the table saw and motor and tried it out. It sounds good and cuts very well. When I put the top on it was a little difficult getting the blade aligned with...
