Hey everyone,
I am in need of some help! I am writing a book called “The Burl Hunter”. I am looking for interested people who are willing to read as I write to help me out. I am not a great writer but I love to teach.

What I would like to do is get about 5 people to read and critique the book. Even edit my grammar. I would like 2 people who know about burls just to keep me in check and 3 to just read to learn and see how it flows. I need your input.

It is a book that will go through the process that I go through in harvesting, storage and cutting the burls.

Well that is it in a nut shell.

Anyone interested. Just provide me with your email address and I will shoot you a copy of what I have presently and as I write more I will email it to you.

Thanks LJs
Greg Dahl

Thank you everyone for your offers to help! That is what I asked for. This is great! For now I am going to choose only 5 people but everyone who respones to this blog will be sure to get a copy! So keep the interest flowing!!!

5/12/2010 You guys have been great! Thanks so much for the interest. I don’t need any more help. I wll let you know when it comes out, hoping within 6-8 months.

Count me in! I love to read and learn, and I am usually picky about my own grammar and spelling. A book to help people understand burls would probably be well-received. I am often tempted with purchasing burls, but have held back because of my own lack of knowledge.

Sounds like a good task. I’m there if you need me. As info, I have some degree of experience writing for national publication. It’s ironic as I’m currently learning to harvest burls from my area. It seems that I have an eye for spotting them from a distance while driving.

Sounds like an interesting topic, I would love to help out a fellow woodworker if you still need it.

I have shown a few of my burls, an expert NO, but know enough to get into trouble. You can use me if needed.

I don’t know much about burls, but I’d be glad to read and offer my opinion, for what it’s worth.

Good luck with the project.

Burl Ives, Milton Berle, yes there are some great burls to write about. Oh, you mean wood burls like from trees.

Seriously, if you need another, keep me in mind.

Greg,

This sounds like a great book idea. We can all benefit from your teaching. If you plan to include photos of your burls though, you should plan to laminate the pages to prevent damage to the book from drool! ;-)
