Gun Stock Progress

Decided one day I wanted to carve my own gunstock, for the old Cooey single shot .22 my Dad gave me. I bought a big chunk of walnut and cut out an outline I traced from the old stock. I measured out the seating for the barrel and action and carved it out using chisels and gouges.

Most of shaping was done with a chisel, spokeshave and a rasp. I started some rough sanding at 40 grit, but still a long way to go.

That’s coming along great. My dad gave me a single shot Iver Johnson .22 when I was a kid, making a new stock for it might be nice.
