Hi all I'm a retired pharmacist. I have spent my entire 50+ years in search of my perfect shop. I've built so many and the moved I've lost count. And I'm doing it again. Now that I'm retired I plan to make this the last and finally make some projects of beauty instead of just workshop useful projects. ...but. Before I do I'll have to build the next shop. ...thus my dilemma.
I have all the machines that I want but always looking for jigs and accessories. YouTube has been perfect for ideas for that. I especially like the jay bates, stumpy nubs, and pask makes. There are many more.
My future dreams are to get into bowl and segmented turning. There is one guy on YouTube near me in Indiana pa that does some fantastic work in segmented turning. I bought a oneway 24/36 a few years ago and really haven't done much with it. That will change!

I also collect antique tools. I still peruse the auction sites periodically (everyday) looking for some special trinket or two or three(hi my name is toolman and I am a tooloholic).

In my next shop I would like it to be big enough to be able to start some kind of a "CHEERS" of woodworking where some like minded folks could just come over shoot the bull and build things. I guess sort of a woodworking club of sorts. So if you're in the Altoona pa area and would like to do something of the sort. Pm me!
Well enough rambling if you have any questions shoot me a message

I've been lurking around here now for nearly a year and very much enjoying the site. Since I last posted on this profile I have had a few changes in life. We were about to move homes because of early retirement, but as things would have it we now are staying put. God has seen to it that this is where He wants us and has provided the funds to do just that. So now I can finally make my shop in this house permanent. I have a 3000 sq/ft basement that is mine all mine. Well not really. I have to share it with the basic storage requirements. Which of course consist of mainly my other hobbies. My wife does like to point that out. But I'll probably be able to steal about 1200sq/ft from myself for a shop. I know. First world problems. But I do have to deal with stairs and keeping dust under control.
This site has been great for shop dreaming. I spend most of my time here ogling over the other shops posted. Wow you guys are a total inspiration. I hope to someday post some photos of what I accomplish here in mine. It will take a while though because of health matters, not being able to be down there everyday. But time, I've got time. Kids finally on there own. And no job. Which also means I'll have to get creative with financing the projects. LJ site will take care of that though because I've come across so many ideas here that really don't require a lot of funds to complete.

All this to say thanks to fellow LJ's for giving me entertainment when I can't get into the shop and inspiration to do great work when I can.

Welcome to lumberjocks Rick! I’ll be waiting to see what you turn. That’s an awesome lathe you have.
