I had the distinct pleasure of meeting my LJ “neighbor” Thos. Angle today when I invaded his jobsite. He had mentioned where he would be working today, and I barged in (let this be a warning to the rest of you)!
When I joined LJ, Tom was one of the first to welcome me and we kidded about being “neighbors” since we only live about two hours apart. Since then, he has offered words of wisdom and advice in response to most of my questions and comments. I find his responses to other LJs questions to be equally valuable. His comments have always seemed to be well considered and good natured, thoughtful and often tinged with gentle humor. I jumped at the chance to meet him – although it meant diverting my wife from her intended shopping route!
Tom is every bit the gentleman in person as he is on LJ. He was very patient with my unannounced interruption, and took time to chat and show me what he was working on. His work exhibited his careful craftsmanship and his conversation was tinged with that same gentle humor.
Thos. Angle, it was great to meet you!

Peter, have met Thom only here on the pages of LumberJock – I consider your in person meeting a good thing. I would enjoy meeting him myself. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Congratulation on the meet. It’s always nice to meet another LJ’er whom we have chatted and shared with.

Gosh, Peter, that’s a mouthful of nice words. Thank you. It was a pleasure to meet you and your wife as well. I’m sorry we were so busy that we really couldn’t do much visiting. We just made it home a little while ago in a snow storm. 40 mph all the way from Nampa. But here’s an invitation to Jordan Valley. Come and see us. This time we will really take time to visit. That goes for the rest of you as well. The latch string’s always out.
Carleen, just came in and suggested that it might not be good for any of you to meet me because some times I’m a horse’s butt. LOL Of course, that’s only one women’s opinion.

Dennis – You are welcome to drop in! Or give me a heads-up and we might even feed you while you’re here. Oh, and we have close friends in Burley … so consider yourself warned!
gbvinc is actually a lot closer to me than Thos, only about 10 minutes away, but I haven’t been able to time a visit so that I wouldn’t be intruding on dinner or something. But, gbvinc – you are on my list!
Thos. – I understand a jobsite is a busy place. I actually get onto my own jobsite once in awhile! Besides, Marianne and I were on a Christmas shopping mission, so I couldn’t have stood around too long! I enjoyed the few minutes we had to chat, and look forward to a trip down your way when the roads are a little better. We eased our way back down from a job in Garden Valley at about 9:30 last night in the snow storm.
Any LJs who feel the need to wander out into rural Idaho, just give a call or drop by – we’ll put the coffee on.

Peter: That’s not the first time I have ‘been on somebody’s list!’ I pass by your shop once or twice a month, so don’t be surprised if you have an unexpected vistor coming up the lane. Interestingly, I will be moving down near Dennis shortly, so I suppose this should serve as fair warning to him also.
My door is always open & don’t worry about interupting meals, we’ll just throw another plate on the table.
Sounds like we need to plan a summer picinic eh guys?

You can meet at my shop in Delaware.
I’m sure we could probably get Lee Jesberger’s shop in NJ if needed.

I’m in the process of moving to down near Dennis, but I would be more than happy to host sometime this next summer, if that isn’t too far out of the way for the rest of you. Gives me incentive to make sure my shop is squared away…. or wait….maybe I will save the major modifications for when the crew, er, ah, picnic participants show up. ;-) It’s closer than Delaware, right?

don’t forget to have picnic information posted in the eMag so people can start arranging their trips.
