    Hi there,
Welcome to LumberJocks… I joined the site myself a little over a year ago and will give you fair warning, this site is VERY ADDICTIVE, VERY EDUCATIONAL, and VERY FUN…. so sit back, enjoy the ride and learn from the other LJ's as they are a group of extremely talented people that are also very friendly…

Enjoy your time here on LJ and pass the word to any of your woodworking buddies about us…

    Hi,

I have been quiet lately. I have just finished a kitchen done in African Mahogany. A lovely wood to work with and the kitchen came out very nice. I bought same more AM to build the display cabinet for a big mining company. Only this time i was so "lucky" to purchase all the wrong boards. Wrong in the sense of stresses in the wood that you can not see. Only when ripping the boards for the legs which is 2.1 meters long that i found out what stresses these boards had. Every leg i cut went into a different direction so to speak. This also happened to the door stiles. I had to go back to the city to get some more wood, at an extra cost.
Is there a way one can know before hand of stresses in boards. Maybe i am just looking for a soothing of my disappointment !!??

I am going to build a display cabinet for a Mining Co in the G&G style. They don't want any leaded glass work , instead clear safety glass( typically mining co) I will be using Khaya (African Mahogany) Could get wide bords of up to 425mm (16.75 inches) wide. When i am finished i will post some pictures…..
