Delta belt/disc sander - 7 replies

Does anyone have a Delta 31-695 combination 6” x 48” belt / 9” disc sander they can give a review on? They are discontinued but can still be gotten reasonably priced. For that matter…..anyone have a similar type sander they can recommend? The wish list is for a Jet 708595 but the price is more than I want to spend.

Belt / Disc Sander - 13 replies

Ok Lumberjocks, I never thought I would have a use for a benchtop Belt / disk sander but after attending a Shaker box workshop it appears I do! What are you using? Any features to look for? The only one I’ve looked at is the Ryobi BD4600 for $114 at the orange big box. Can’t say I was impressed.

Planer stand - 5 replies

I recently replaced my Ryobi 10” planer with a Delta 12 1/2” planer. I was able to lift my old 10” planer and put it on the extension table for the table saw when I wanted to use it. This will not be possible with the 12 1/2” as it weighs 80 lbs.! Has anyone built a semi-portable stand to secure a planer to? Any ideas ...

Futon - 2 replies

The wife purchased a new futon mattress and now it seem that the old frame just won’t do. The one we will replace had a metal mechanism and was bought 9 years ago. The new ones in the store seem to be all wood with a routed groove in the ends for a pin to ride in. Surelt there must be a set of plans that would help with a layout such as...

Biscuits - 7 replies

Well Lumberjocks…..It appears as though my biscuits have swelled! Sounds painful but I can assure it is only annoying. I guess the plastic bag I had them stored in wasn’t good enough. I read somewhere that you can put them in a microwave to dry them out. Has anyone tried that, or have a better idea? How do you store yours?

Pen turning - 6 replies

I am not a pen turner nor do I ever expect to be, but whatever happened to the Pen Turners swap box? It was good to see the map of the different places the “box” made it to and get the reports from the recepients before they sent it on it’s merry way. Pen turners report!

Attention pen turners - 4 replies

As a hobbiest who builds furniture I probably will never be a pen maker. Quite often I have scrap pieces that are too small to devote storage space to but could have enough material for a pen blank. So my questions are; What size should a pen blank be? , and Will any material do for turning pens? I aam used to seeing posts with exiotic speci...
